Outwood Academy students make amazing progress again!

Students at Outwood Academy Ripon have achieved outstanding results yet again. Sir Michael Wilkins, Academy Principal and Chief Executive of Outwood Grange Academies Trust said that “Our students have achieved phenomenal results: 76% of students passed both English and Mathematics at C or above, the new key national performance measure. On average all students achieved over half a grade more than expected across a suite of 8 key subjects. Almost 90% of students made expected progress in English and maths, far above the national average. It is testament to the hard work of all students, their families, staff, the trust board and governors at Outwood Academy Ripon that we have yet again performed so well. I would like to particularly praise the work of the Regional CEO, Rob Tarn and Principal Steve Merifield in helping these students gain these life changing results.”

Every student has achieved personal success but some highlights of these tremendous results include:

Mikale Tewolde attained six A* grades in maths, biology, physics, chemistry, french and computer science, along with a further five A grades.

Emma Sorby attained three A* grades in maths, physics and DT along with five further A grades in biology, chemistry, french, geography and P.E.

Holly Robson-Powell attained five A* grades in English, french, maths, chemistry and physics. Laura Silaja also achieved five A* grades in maths, biology, chemistry, physics and computer science.

Many other students, including, Lucy Allenby; Rohan Anwar; Jack Grainger; Lily Myers; Callum Wilson; Zeyra Wiseman and Junjie Liang attained an impressive string of A* and A grades.

Principal, Steve Merifield said "Once again we are delighted with the achievements of all our students and there have been some exceptional results. Some of our students were able to overcome really challenging personal circumstances to achieve excellent outcomes. I would like to once again thank all of the staff for going the extra mile with the students, along with the parents and carers for their continued support and the Academy Council for their unwavering commitment. The Outstanding Ofsted inspection this year recognised the many strengths of our Academy and that Outwood Academy Ripon continues to be one of the highest performing schools nationally.”
