The AMP Awards is an exciting Music and Enterprise Competition for young people at Schools and Colleges across Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate and York. This year a fantastic group of students 'Bassium' alongside band 'Uprising Pace' will take part in the annual AMP Awards evening at The Royal Hall, Harrogate on Wednesday 12th February. Please read Bassium's story written by our Head Boy, James Gault.
The Amp Awards is a great extracurricular activity to get involved in if you have a passion for business, music or marketing. As part of a small group of people we get to raise money through various different events such as bag packing, hiring out night clubs, school parties/discos, bake sales etc. As a business team, each of us must perform various tasks within the group such as Media co-ordinating, Sales directing and general business management. This is all overseen and aided by our business mentor who will guide us where needed. We have to head hunt and put together a band which we will market towards the inter-school heats and then the regional final where the business team and the band will battle against other schools around the area. This year, our role was ‘Graphic Design’ where we worked closely with a freelance designer to create a poster advertising the district finals which we will be able to sell and turn into profit as well as market the event itself. The experience has been a learning curve for all of us and we have bonded well as a group and also as an efficient and professional business team.
