Welcome to Physical Education

Our aim is to ensure students are physically active, have the opportunity to compete and develop teamwork and leadership skills but to also develop the knowledge and understanding of the social and physical theories in sport. Throughout their time at Outwood Academy Ripon, students take part in team sports including rugby, football, netball and basketball as well as individual sports including badminton and athletics.



Key Stage 3

The PE course at Key Stage 3 provides students with the necessary skills and knowledge to access the Cambridge National Sports Studies course in Key Stage 4.

Cambridge National in Sports Studies
Contemporary Issues in Sport, Developing Sports Skills, Sport in the Media, Sport Leadership
Cambridge National Sports Studies is assessed in the following way:


Key Stage 5

Btec Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Sport
Anatomy and Physiology, Fitness Training and Programming, Professional Development in the Sports Industry, Sports Leadership, Application of Fitness Testing, Practical Sports Performance.
Btec Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Sport is assessed in the following way:
